Because the good feelings we all associate with charitable giving this time of year can be more long-lasting and meaningful than any regular holiday gift, Northwestern Benefit Corporation of Georgia has made a sizeable donation this year to Hosea Feed The Hungry & Homeless charity, in lieu of gift giving directly to their clients.
David Asbury, CEO of the organization made the decision several years ago to donate funds to one of Atlanta’s local charities as opposed to direct gift giving to clients. Mr. Asbury has stated “I can’t think of a better way to touch more people in need while honoring our clients than through giving to others. Since non-profits continue to be hit hard in our economy, it is the right thing to do for the community”.
David was introduced to the charity by several of Northwestern Benefit associates who have been individually serving the charity for many years. “It is really rewarding for our staff to know how important it is that we share a portion of our business success with such an important charity. After visiting with the charity’s Program Manager, Afemo Omilami, the most inspiring thing to me was their year-round impact to those in need, and also that they just don’t provide food, they also provide so many other services such as haircuts, financial services and clothing. It is truly an overwhelming need not just in Atlanta, but all over the country.”
We hope our giving will inspire all of our associates to volunteer their time not just during the holidays, but all year long to their favorite charity. The holiday cards that Northwestern Benefit’s clients will receive in December will indicate a message of giving to Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless in honor of their partnership with Northwestern Benefit.
Additionally, Northwestern Benefit associates are collecting toys and clothing items to be delivered next week to Hosea Feed the Hungry. All toy and clothing donations will be personally given to thousands of needy children and teens across the state within the next 2 weeks.
